Word to Excel
Extract Word tables into .xlsx (long numbers stay intact)
Drag & drop files here
or browse files
Only .docx is supported (for legacy .doc, save as .docx in Word first). Conversion happens locally - nothing is uploaded.
About this tool
Tables inside a Word document are structured data, and this tool parses that structure (the w:tbl XML inside the .docx) directly: each table becomes an Excel worksheet with rows and columns intact and horizontally merged cells padded automatically - far faster than retyping from a screenshot.
Honest scope: this is an "extract the Word tables" tool, not an "any layout to Excel" converter. Tables made with Insert Table are recognised; pseudo-tables laid out with spaces, tabs or text boxes are not. Long numbers such as ID numbers are written as text so they never turn into scientific notation.
Features

How to use
- Drop in a .docx that contains tables

- The page shows how many tables and rows were found
- Download the .xlsx and review it in Excel
Frequently asked questions
- How do I keep the formatting when converting Word to Excel?
- The row/column structure of each table is preserved, including horizontal merges; cell colours and fonts are not carried over. Layout that was not built with Insert Table (space-aligned text, text boxes) cannot be recognised by any client-side tool, this one included.
- ID numbers turn into scientific notation?
- Not here: every cell is written as text, so 18-digit ID numbers keep every digit. If another tool garbled them, run the file through this converter again.
- Which tables cannot be recognised?
- Two kinds: pseudo-tables aligned with spaces or tabs (no table structure exists), and tables inside pictures (those are images and need OCR). Tables drawn in text boxes are outside the document flow and are not extracted either.
- Are merged cells and page-spanning tables supported?
- Horizontal merges are padded with empty cells so no data is lost; continuation cells of vertical merges extract as empty. One table split across pages is usually a single table object in Word and extracts complete; two separate tables become two worksheets.
