About this tool

A printed PDF without page numbers falls apart the moment the sheets shuffle, and submissions often demand numbered pages anyway. This tool stamps every page in the format you choose - plain numbers, 1 / N, Page X of N - with position, size and color under your control.

The start page and the first number are controlled separately: set the start page to 2 to keep the cover clean while page one of the body still shows 1, or set any first number to continue an existing paper document. Numbers are stamped as visible content in the margin area, leaving the page content untouched and the original file unmodified.

Features

  • Four formats: 1, 1 / N, 第 X 页 / 共 N 页, Page X of N
  • Start page and first number are independent - skip the cover cleanly
  • Six positions (top/middle/bottom × left/centre/right), size and color adjustable
  • Chinese format renders perfectly; the total is filled in automatically
  • Page-by-page local processing - no upload, no signup, no watermark

How to use

  1. Drop or select the PDF you want to number
  2. Choose the format, position, size and color
  3. Set the start page and first number if needed (default: page 1 shows 1)
  4. Click Add page numbers - the result downloads automatically

Frequently asked questions

How do I keep the cover unnumbered?
Set "Start stamping at page" to 2 - numbering begins on the second page and the cover stays clean. Combine it with "First number shown": set it to 1 and the second page displays 1.
Can it show "Page X of N" or the Chinese equivalent?
Yes. Pick the 第 1 页 / 共 N 页 or Page X of N format and the total N is filled in automatically with the document page count, regardless of where numbering starts.
Does numbering change the existing content?
No. Page numbers are added as a new layer on top of each page; the original text, images and layout stay untouched. The output is a new file and your original PDF is never modified, so you can retry styles freely.
Will the numbers cover content at the bottom?
Numbers sit in the margin area (about 28 pt from the edge by default), which normal documents leave free. If your pages are packed edge to edge, move the numbers elsewhere or shrink the size and generate again.
