Supports ZIP / 7Z / RAR / TAR / TAR.GZ / TBZ2 / XZ archives
About this tool
A phone receives an archive with no extractor app, a borrowed computer lacks WinRAR, and installing software to peek at two images is overkill. This tool moves extraction into the browser: upload ZIP / 7Z / RAR / TAR / TAR.GZ / TBZ2 and the file list appears immediately, images preview directly and text files open in place.
Extraction runs on the WebAssembly build of libarchive locally (about 1 MB engine, cached after first use). Download individual files, or click "Download all" and the tool repacks the content into a single ZIP - convenient for saving on a phone. Two protections are built in: an uncompressed-size cap and path-traversal filtering, so archive bombs are refused.
Honest scope: encrypted archives are not supported (detection is explicit, never a silent failure); split archives (.part1.rar, .z01) must be merged into a full archive first; both RAR4 and RAR5 read fine, with very old codec variants as the possible exception.

Frequently asked questions
- Is it really free, and how does it compare to desktop software?
- Completely free, no sign-up, no uploads. Against desktop software: zero install, works on phone browsers, and files never cross the network. The limit is device memory - keep archives under roughly 1 GB; bigger jobs still deserve a desktop tool.
- Can it open password-protected archives?
- Not yet. Encryption is detected and reported clearly rather than failing silently. For protected ZIP / RAR / 7Z files, extract them on the source device or use desktop software where you can enter the password.
- How do I handle split archives (.z01, .part2.rar)?
- Merge them on a desktop first: keep the parts in one folder, extract the first part with 7-Zip or WinRAR to obtain the full file, then upload here. Browser-side volume merging is not offered.
- Does it work well on phones?
- Everyday archives (tens to hundreds of MB) work fine on recent phones; the ~1 MB engine caches after the first load. iOS Safari’s multi-file downloads are clunky, so prefer "Download all (ZIP)" to get everything in one save.
