JPG / PNG / WebP / BMP - a screenshot or photo containing a QR code
About this tool
Your phone cannot scan its own screen, a QR inside a screenshot cannot be pointed at, and you want to know whether that code hides a URL or plain text - just upload the image. The tool decodes QR codes locally in your browser with the jsQR library and shows the content immediately: open URLs in one click, copy text in one click.
JPG / PNG / WebP / BMP are supported, including images that contain more than one code (the first decoded result is returned). Oversized images are scaled down automatically; slightly blurry screenshots usually still decode. When a stubborn image refuses, crop closer to the code and retry.
Decoding happens entirely in your browser - images are never uploaded, so screenshots with sensitive QR content are safe to inspect.

Frequently asked questions
- Why does my image fail to decode?
- Common causes: the code is tiny relative to the image, heavy blur, glare or partial occlusion. Fixes: crop the image close to the code before uploading, and capture screenshots at original resolution without re-compression. Oversized images are scaled to 1600 px before decoding, and most screenshots succeed on the first try.
- Can it read WiFi QR codes?
- Yes. The result shows the full WIFI:T:WPA;S:...;P:...;; string - S: is the network name and P: the password. That is a handy way to recover a forgotten WiFi password from a screenshot, provided you still have the code.
- Is it safe? Could the link be malicious?
- The tool only decodes and displays content - it never visits links automatically. Check the domain before opening a decoded URL, the same rule that applies to scanning any QR code in the wild. Decoding is local; neither the image nor the content leaves your device.
