Honest scope: this is additive editing - existing PDF text cannot be modified or deleted; exports overlay additions onto the untouched original.

About this tool

A contract missing one supplementary line, a form field left blank, a key point to circle on a slide - none of these need the PDF rebuilt, just something added on top. Three lightweight tools cover it: text boxes (any font, size and color, CJK included), image inserts (PNG/JPG stamps, logos, screenshots) and freehand drawing with mouse or touch.

Editing is page-by-page with live preview: switch pages, click to add, drag to reposition, tweak size and color in the side panel - what you see is the page. On export, pdf-lib writes the additions as an overlay onto the original PDF; existing text, images and layout are untouched. This is not a rebuild - it is an overlay on the original.

Honest scope: this is "additive" editing - existing text cannot be rewritten (reflowing editors are beyond browser capability); use your reader’s form feature for form fields. Everything runs locally, files never upload.

Frequently asked questions

Can it change text that already exists in the PDF?
No. PDF text is the output of a typesetting engine; rewriting it means re-layout, which browsers cannot do faithfully. The tool’s job is additions; to change wording, edit the source document and re-export, or cover the old text with a white image and add new text on top.
How is this different from the watermark tool?
Watermarking is batch and regular: the same text at the same spot on every page. The editor is per-page and free-form - different text, images and drawings anywhere on any page. Use the watermark tool for stamping every page; use this for precise single-page edits.
Does editing recompress the file or hurt quality?
No. Export starts from the original PDF with additions written as vector text and standalone images; original page content is preserved byte-for-byte. Inserted images embed at their native resolution - crop them to size first to keep the file lean.
