Front-facing, evenly lit upper-body photos work best
About this tool
Different forms demand different backgrounds: white for applications, blue for visas, red for resumes - swapping the background of the same portrait is the most common ID photo request. This tool segments the person with MediaPipe's WASM image segmenter inside your browser, composites you onto white, blue, red or a custom color, and crops to the 1-inch / 2-inch standard ratios. Everything runs on your machine; your photo is never uploaded.
Honest caveats: this targets everyday use (registrations, resumes, badges). Segmentation works best on front-facing, evenly lit upper-body photos; fine hair strands may not be perfectly cut. Official purposes (visas, exams) have strict photo specs - use a studio photo where they apply.

Frequently asked questions
- The hair edges look unnatural after swapping - what can I do?
- Fine hair is the natural limit of person segmentation. A plain light background, tied-back hair and even lighting all sharpen the mask noticeably. For high-stakes documents, studio photos remain the reference.
- Which background colors are supported?
- White, blue (#438EB9) and red (#D9001B) presets cover the common requirements, and a custom color picker handles any special specification.
- What are the 1-inch and 2-inch sizes?
- 1-inch is 295×413 px (25×35mm at 300dpi); 2-inch is 413×579 px (35×49mm at 300dpi). They share the same aspect ratio, so cropping is identical - the tier only changes the output resolution.
- Are my photos uploaded?
- No. Segmentation runs inside your browser as a WASM model and the photo only exists in device memory - it even works offline, which matters for the most private pictures people process.
