Excel to CSV
Export worksheets as CSV with UTF-8 BOM against garbled text

Supports .xlsx / .xls / .csv - one CSV per worksheet
About this tool
CSV is the universal handoff format for table data - databases, BI tools, scripts and other systems all accept it. This tool reads every worksheet of .xlsx / .xls files with SheetJS and exports standard CSV: comma, semicolon or tab delimiters, with RFC 4180 quoting for cells that contain separators or quotes.
Output is UTF-8 with BOM by default so double-clicking in Excel shows Chinese text correctly; uncheck it when a downstream system wants plain UTF-8. Multiple worksheets export as separate files in a ZIP. Conversion runs locally in your browser - nothing is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions
- Why does the CSV look garbled when opened in Excel?
- BOM-less UTF-8 gets misread with a local codepage. The tool writes UTF-8 with BOM by default, which Excel opens correctly; uncheck BOM for systems that reject it.
- Which delimiter should I choose?
- Comma is the safe default for most locales; some European Excel builds use semicolons, so pick that when targeting them. Tab suits tools that accept TSV.
- What if cells contain commas or line breaks?
- Such cells are quoted and escaped per RFC 4180, so importing tools restore them exactly.
- Do multiple worksheets merge into one CSV?
- No - each worksheet exports as its own file inside a ZIP to keep data boundaries. Uncheck "all worksheets" to export just the first sheet.
