Photo-heavy decks compress the most; text-only slides barely take space to begin with
About this tool
"My PPT is too big" is the most tool-shaped PPT search: photo-heavy decks hit tens of megabytes and choke email attachments. This compressor uses media replacement: unzip the .pptx, re-encode only the images under ppt/media/ with a quality slider and an optional resolution cap, then repack every other byte untouched - masters, animations, charts and formulas are never touched.
Honest scope: only embedded images compress; text and shapes barely take space, and lossless PNG screenshots only shrink meaningfully when downscaled. Images are replaced only when the re-encode is actually smaller, so the deck never grows. Everything runs locally - nothing is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions
- How do I shrink an oversized PPT?
- Embedded photos are almost always the cause. This tool re-encodes just the images: lower the quality slider for smaller files, cap resolution at 1920px for screens and projectors. You get a new .pptx; the original stays untouched.
- Will compression hurt clarity?
- At 80%+ quality the difference is invisible; drop to 60% with a resolution cap for aggressive savings. Lossless PNGs only shrink meaningfully when downscaled - that is the format's nature. Every image is replaced only if the new file is smaller.
- Does the deck still open and edit normally?
- Yes. Media replacement never touches layout: text, masters, animations and charts stay byte-identical, image filenames and relationships unchanged - PowerPoint and WPS open it as usual.
- Why did my file barely shrink?
- Vector shapes and text take almost no space; if the deck is mostly text or the images were already small, there is little to reclaim. The after/before comparison tells you immediately - keep the original in that case.
