Supports JPG / PNG / WebP / BMP - printed text and sharp photos work best
About this tool
Scanned contracts, photographed exam papers, screenshots of documents - to get editable Word output you need OCR first. This tool runs the recognition locally (tesseract.js with Arabic, English, Chinese and Thai models), then rebuilds the recognised lines into a standard .docx you can edit straight away in Word or WPS.
Images never leave your device: the engine and language models load into the browser and then work fully offline. Honest scope: the result is an editable-text export - the original layout and images are not preserved, so proofread against the source when confidence is low.

Frequently asked questions
- How accurate is image to Word conversion?
- Printed text, clean scans and sharp photos work best; handwriting, decorative fonts, low resolution and busy backgrounds reduce accuracy noticeably. The overall confidence is shown on the page - below roughly 80%, try a sharper original.
- Is the original layout preserved?
- No. Output is organised into plain paragraphs from the recognised lines - an editable-text export. The goal is editable words, not layout reconstruction; images, table lines and fonts are not carried over.
- Are my images uploaded to a server?
- Never. Recognition runs in your browser via tesseract.js; the language model is downloaded from this site once and then works offline. Private photos - IDs, contracts - are safe to process.
- Which formats and sizes are supported?
- JPG / PNG / WebP / BMP all work. Keep images under about 4000 px on the long edge and 20 MB; shrink oversized pictures with the resize tool first for faster recognition.
